As an Assembly Technician, you will be an integral part in supporting our R&D and Satellite manufacturing teams at Xona. You will play a key role in supporting both new product development and low-rate production builds, ensuring hardware is delivered to the highest standards of quality and reliability. Your work will have significant impact on our goal of bringing cutting edge navigation technologies to space.

Responsibilities

  • Perform precision assembly of complex mechanical and electrical subsystems, following engineering direction through hands-on training and via engineering drawings, schematics, and work instructions.

  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams to support prototyping, troubleshooting, and design-for-assembly improvements.

  • Maintain accurate digital build documentation and nonconformance reports. Support the continuous iteration and improvement of work instructions, processes and methodology.

  • When program schedules require it, be willing and able to work alternate shifts, overtime, and/or weekends and occasional travel to support launch and off-site testing as required.

  • Support transition of hardware from development into production, including feedback on tooling, fixtures, and process improvements. Support the continuous iteration and improvement of work instructions, processes and methodology.

  • Handle a wide variety of tasks, from cleanroom assembly and cable harness integration to mechanical fastener torquing and leak/pressure checks.

  • Adhere to industry safety and quality standards where applicable.

  • Contribute to a safe, organized, and collaborative work environment.

Tech Requirements

  • Hands on experience with soldering, wiring, cable making, etc.

  • Ability to interpret PCBA schematics, technical drawings, test plans, and work to procedures.

  • Ability to perform payload and spacecraft integration tasks in lab and clean room environments.

  • Perform payload testing of communications, telemetry and command, thermal, and power subsystems per the applicable procedure including setting up, adjusting and calibrating standard test equipment.

  • Hands-on experience using electrical test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, spectral analyzers, etc.)

  • Maintain work instructions, connector mate logs, test logs.

  • Develop, maintain, and own process and documentation for PCBA and harness manufacturing, inspection, rework, staking, and conformal coating.

  • Analyze and interpret electrical/RF test data and provide results and issues to engineering.

  • Familiar with windows style PC operating systems.

  • Willing and able to work all shifts, overtime, and/or weekends, travel to support launch and off-site environmental testing as required.

  • Climbing ladders, long durations of standing, grasping, sitting, pulling, and physical bending movements.

  • Must be able to lift at least 40 lbs unassisted.

  • Be able to clearly communicate written and orally in English.

Desired Qualifications

  • 7–10 years of assembly experience in Aviation, Space, or Defense industries or similar adjacent industrial sector.

  • Strong background in both mechanical and electrical assembly techniques.

  • Comfortable working in prototype labs, cleanrooms, and structured precision assembly facilities. Capable of working effectively with other skilled technicians and Engineers.

  • Familiar with reading complex engineering documentation, including CAD drawings, wiring diagrams, and assembly procedures. Experience with digital factory software systems is desirable, such as MES systems.

  • Experience with precision tools, torque equipment, electrical test instruments, and cleanroom practices.

  • Able to manage long durations of standing, grasping, sitting, pulling, and physical bending movements to support various assembly and test processes. Must be able to lift at least 40 lbs unassisted.

  • Ability to work independently as well as effective cooperation and communication as part of a cross-functional team; strong problem-solving skills.

  • Track record of success in both small, fast-paced environments and larger, structured organizations.

  • High attention to detail, commitment to quality, and adaptability to evolving program needs.

  • Experience with handling and integrating space flight components and spacecraft environmental testing.
