Senior Software Engineer

Zoox is looking for a senior software engineer to drive application development within our enterprise applications engineering organization. This team is the central software innovation partner across Zoox, building systems that support manufacturing, fleet operations, vehicle development, and corporate functions.

In this role, you'll act as a primary technical leader responsible for designing and delivering scalable, high-quality enterprise applications. You'll combine advanced systems design expertise with exceptional problem-solving skills to elevate engineering practices, architect complex cross-functional integrations, and help shape how enterprise software is built across the company.

In this role, you will:

• Lead the architectural design of complex, scalable enterprise systems — making high-level design choices, dictating technical standards, and ensuring robust, long-term maintainability across diverse business domains
• Tackle ambiguous, high-impact business challenges by breaking them down into well-defined software solutions, designing systems from the ground up that can adapt to Zoox's rapidly evolving corporate and production needs
• Act as a primary technical partner working closely with manufacturing, IT, HR, finance, and engineering teams to gather complex requirements, translate them into scalable architectures, and deliver high-impact tools that bridge corporate systems with production operations
• Create fault-tolerant, system-to-system integrations connecting core enterprise platforms, including Workday, ServiceNow, Active Directory, VNDLY, and manufacturing and supply chain systems
• Write clean, efficient, and testable code; lead code reviews, mentor junior and mid-level engineers on systems design principles, and drive engineering best practices across the organization

Qualifications:

• BS/MS in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical field
• 8+ years of proven experience designing, building, and scaling complex enterprise applications from inception to production
• Exceptional systems design mindset with demonstrated ability in data modeling, distributed systems, and microservices architecture
• Strong technical background with hands-on proficiency in modern programming languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Go
• Deep understanding of secure software development practices, API design (RESTful, GraphQL, SOAP), and identity/access management principles

Bonus qualifications:

• Experience integrating corporate IT applications with manufacturing execution systems (MES) or ERP software, and/or knowledge of domain-driven design (DDD) in large enterprise systems
• Familiarity with incorporating AI tools and agents into internal workflows, or experience operating within an IT service management (ITSM) framework
• Experience with AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes

$206,000 - $247,000 a year

There are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon restricted stock units (RSUs), and Zoox stock appreciation rights. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. The listed range applies only to the base salary. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance. The salary range listed in this posting is representative of the range of levels Zoox is considering for this position.
